Chris is a graphic designer by training, but during his study became much more interested in why it is that people react the way they do to what they see and experience. His honours project for the Bachelor of Visual Communication at Monash University, focused on wayshowing as a form and expression of community identity.
He has a important role within ID/Lab; he is the conduit between the developed strategy and the way this gets expressed in the designed forms, both graphics and product. In his role as Design Manager he is responsible for making the design products work, making sure that the message/instruction that they are supposed to give, gets understood by the users.
Different from most other designers, he completely understands the developed strategy, and with that, what motivates the user to behave in a certain way. From that knowledge he then works with the industrial and graphic designers in our team to make that behaviour match the required outcome.
