The ANZ Head Office in Melbourne’s Docklands is Australia’s largest office.

6500 staff come to work here every day, making the building a small town on its own. There are cafes, restaurants, a wellness centre, a YMCA gym and, of course, a bank!

In collaboration with Hassell Architects and FOD, ID/Lab developed a wayshowing 

strategy that had to get the staffto understand the huge floor plan layout, and the location of the meeting rooms.

We carried out research into best practice for circulation in large, multi-level buildings. 

The strategy was then translated into a performance specification that was used as a basis for the design of the signage hardware 

and other graphics.

The building has since won a number of awards such as the Emil Sodersten Award and the AIA’s 2010 National Architecture award.
